Two ways to finish a pool
An exposed-aggregate surround gives you grip and hides marks, and it ties the pool area into a matching driveway or path.
A honed seamless edge is the other direction — no separate coping, no joint line at the water, the concrete running to the pool edge and honed smooth. We have done that on circle pools with a waterfall edge, which is the hardest version of it because every curve has to be set out and finished by hand.

Falls and drainage come first
Water has to run away from the pool shell and away from the house. That means the falls are worked out before the formwork goes in, and any strip drain is cast in as part of the pour.
Around a pool the surface is wet and barefoot most of the time it is in use, which is why the exposed and honed finishes we use are chosen for grip rather than gloss.
The details that give it away
We make our own stainless steel skimmer and inspection lids so there is no plastic square sitting in the middle of your finish. It is a small thing that decides whether a surround reads as a considered piece of work or a slab with lids in it.
Coming in after a pool builder means working to their shell and their levels. Getting that interface right — where the concrete meets the tile or the shell — is most of the skill in the job.
